Description
The year is 475 VE. Vampires rule. Humans are slaves.
In the early-twenty-first century, vampires emerged from the shadows with the advent of BloodStone. Derived from vampire blood, BloodStone, a drug with the power to cure all human diseases, offered the world a glimmer of hope after its second worldwide pandemic in less than a decade. The revelation that vampires were more than mere myths echoed through humanity, leaving them with a profound sense of fear and uncertainty.
However, within two decades, vampires quietly rose in society, while humans, oblivious to the manipulation of governments and the influential elite, unknowingly forfeited their freedoms and unwittingly granted vampires even more power. Led by ancient vampire Matthais, the newly formed Vampire World Council seized control, plunging the world into darkness and chaos. After more than fifty years of relentless warfare and a catastrophic global event, humans finally surrendered to the dominion of vampires. That was the beginning of the end.
Over 500 years have passed since the Great Vampire Wars, leaving behind a permanently transformed world. More than 90 percent of the world’s human population has been decimated. Vampires reside in modern domed cities, built half below and half above ground, protected from the sun by UV-coated, solar-powered domes, while most humans live in primitive villages outside the cities. The mountain caves are havens for rogue vampires—those who don’t adhere to the more civilized rules of contemporary vampire society.
Humans serve three purposes: blood, labor, and sex.
Control over humans is enforced by the vampire’s Half-Breed Army, a worldwide army made up of half-vampire and half-human soldiers.
Born from the Vampire Procreation Program, Aden Westcott is the world’s most feared vampire commander. But for nearly three centuries, he has been haunted by the memory of the young human thrall he fell in love with as a boy. After her life was tragically cut short, Aden’s grief and rage consumed him, turning him into a monster whose reputation instills terror in both humans and vampires alike.
While attending the annual council gathering in the capital, Aden encounters Ellie, a young human thrall with a striking resemblance to his past. He reacts violently, but when the madness clears, Aden bargains with Matthais to take ownership of Ellie.
She quickly challenges everything he believes and turns his world upside down.
As their lives intertwine, Aden’s inner turmoil and Ellie’s resilience spark a forbidden bond, unraveling long-buried secrets. Together, they must navigate a treacherous path in a world where darkness and light collide and choices have consequences.
Aden must choose between joining the fight for a world where Ellie’s light has the power to heal a ravaged, vampire-dominated society or resigning himself to a life of eternal darkness.
